Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about WuKong Math Program.

Yes. We offer a free trial class so you can experience our teaching style before making a decision.
If you enroll and later decide the program isn’t the right fit, we also provide a hassle-free refund policy.
Three structural differences:
  • One system, two tracks — school curriculum reinforcement and competition preparation are built into the same syllabus, not offered as separate add-ons (e.g., Elementary: 40% school extension + 40% competition prep + 20% advanced learning)
  • Standards-aligned — mapped to CCSS and international curricula, so classwork directly reinforces what’s taught in school
  • Built-in learning loop — every course includes preview, live instruction, practice, scheduled review, and stage assessments, so progress is tracked, not assumed
School math helps students meet grade-level requirements, but it may not provide enough challenge or develop deeper thinking skills.
WuKong Math is an online math enrichment program designed to bridge the gap. We don’t just teach formulas; we develop higher-order critical thinking and problem-solving skills through our advanced math program and CPA method, helping students secure a top school GPA while preparing for global benchmarks.

No single program suits every child. As a rough guide:

If your child…Programs to look at
Needs steady calculation practiceWorksheet-based programs such as Kumon
Wants in-person support near homeLocal learning centers such as Mathnasium
Already loves very hard problem solvingAoPS, or a fast-paced rigorous program such as RSM
Wants school-aligned support plus optional competition prep, onlineWuKong Math

A trial class is a practical way to compare, and families are welcome to try several programs.

Kumon is built around self-paced worksheets that students complete independently, which can be a good way to build calculation fluency through repetition.

WuKong Math uses live small-group classes where a teacher explains concepts using the CPA (Concrete → Pictorial → Abstract) and 6A inquiry-based approach, and the syllabus follows CCSS so it connects with school math.

Families who mainly want daily practice may prefer Kumon. Families who want concepts explained and school math supported alongside enrichment may prefer WuKong.

It can be. Classes combine teacher explanation, interactive materials, and guided practice, so students spend time understanding why a method works before practicing it.

Some children still do well with worksheet routines, so we suggest a free trial class to see which format fits your child.

Mathnasium is known for in-person learning centers with personalized support in a center setting. WuKong Math is fully online, in live small-group classes, so location does not limit which class a student can join.

Both aim to support school math. The better fit usually depends on whether your family prefers learning at a nearby center or online, and on how much competition preparation you want.

AoPS is well known for challenging problem-solving content and suits students who already enjoy difficult competition-style problems and like to explore independently.

WuKong Math covers Grades 1–12, starting from school-level foundations with the option to move into Math Kangaroo, AMC 8, Math League, and SAT Math.

If your child is already strong in competition math and wants a high-difficulty track, AoPS is worth considering. If your child is building foundations first, WuKong may be an easier starting point.

RSM is known for a rigorous curriculum with a fast pace. WuKong Math adjusts difficulty by level and emphasizes guided discovery and confidence building, with separate school-extension and competition options.

Students who thrive in a demanding, fast-moving environment may enjoy RSM. Students who benefit from a more gradual, encouraging pace may prefer WuKong.

Effectiveness depends more on class design than on location. WuKong classes are small-group and live, so students can ask questions in real time, and each course includes preview, live instruction, practice, scheduled review, and stage assessments.

Some children focus better in person, and online classes work best with a quiet space and a stable connection.

Yes. Students do not need a competition background to join. The program starts with foundations and school curriculum support, and difficulty can be adjusted to the student’s level.

Yes. The elementary program is about 40% school extension, 40% competition preparation, and 20% advanced learning. The middle school program is about 80% school extension and 20% advanced learning.

Students who become interested can move on to Math Kangaroo, AMC 8, Math League, or SAT Math.

Parents can follow homework accuracy statistics, written and video solution explanations, and unit reports. Teaching assistants also follow up with feedback and answer questions.

Teachers go through a written test, an interview, and a math ability assessment, and then receive training and ongoing supervision.
